Have you heard…..

We all know the buzz word today is being GREEN.   In today’s world, we see many companies making the effort to rolling out their green initiatives.

Did you know that Whole Foods is one of the top 10 Greenest companies in the United States?  Back in 2006 they began their green initiatives by purchasing renewable energy credits from wind farms. They have used these wind farm energy credits to offset 100% of their electricity bill across their entire footprint.   Now that’s pretty interesting.

So how can we as a hotel also reduce our carbon footprint?  With the addition of our new LEED certified Executive Meeting Center, that is how….Let me explain….

In the United States and in a number of other countries around the world, LEED certification is the recognized standard for measuring building sustainability. Achieving LEED certification is the best way for you to demonstrate that your building project is truly “green.”   The LEED green building rating system is designed to promote design and construction practices that increase profitability while reducing the negative environmental impacts of buildings and improving occupant health and well-being.

Some of the elements in our building that helped us achieve this certification are:

The chairs in our seating area are made out of recycled bicycle tires and wheels.  You will see Retro-modern lighting fixtures using glass lenses recycled from discarded traffic lights, and reclaimed heart of cyprus wood from the bottom of the local rivers here in Palm Beach County.  The building is considered a smart building, and reduces the amount of energy that a typical building uses by 40%, simply by turning everything off at night.

I invite you all to come take a tour of the new facility.  Holding a meeting in the Executive Meeting Center will go hand in hand with your green initiatives as a company, and will help reduce your carbon footprint.
